Moving Forward: “Doors Close, Doors Open”
“When one door closes, another one opens”
I am excited to share news and updates as we go into the fall election season.
After my unsuccessful bid in June for the Alameda County Board of Supervisors, I was made aware of a position with the Eden Health Care District representing much of the same geographic area that the Board of Supervisor seat would have allowed me to represent.
With some encouragement, in August, I filed to run for the seat in the upcoming November election. Well, it turns out that no one filed to run against me. Because the position is uncontested, my name will not appear on the ballot, and in January 2023, I will step into the position.
I will be on the Board of Directors for Eden Township Health Care District. The District serves residents of San Leandro, Castro Valley, San Lorenzo, Ashland, Cherryland and Hayward.
With future posts I will share more about the work that I hope to do in this new position. It is an iota of the work of a County Supervisor, but it will give me a platform to give voice about the disparities of and need for health care programs and delivery specifically in the south County / Eden Area.
